As you can see, the only similarity between a typical home compactor and a
compactor designed and engineered for offshore use is the method used to compact
the materials, a ram. Customize your home compactor, perhaps a choice of color.
Customize a Model 3000, the possibilities are many; hazardous duty classified
electrical system, compressed air operation, sandblasted and zinc coating, three
phase 280
volt electrical system. The Model 3000 can be manufactured to customer
specification, try that with a home compactor.
More importantly, if you are in the commercial compactor market place, compare
the compactor you might be looking at with one of ENVIRO-PAK®'s with similar capacity. If you let capital cost be your sole determining factor in a
purchase, you may be making a "penny-wise, pound-foolish" decision. Other
factors that should be examined and compared are:
- Years of exclusive compactor manufacturing experience - are
compactors a "side line" or the company's only product?
- Reliability of the equipment - have the compactors proved reliable
in day to day, continued use?
- Maintenance costs - are the compactors designed to be easy to
maintain?
- Operational costs - do the compactors utilize energy efficient
components?
- Ease of Use of the equipment - is the compactor easy to use or
overly complicated?
- Safety of the equipment, i.e.; obvious "pinch points" -
is the compactor designed and engineered with personal safety in mind?
- Availability of bags designed and manufactured specifically for the
equipment - are bags model specific or "one size fits all?"
All of these questions and more need to be asked when comparing compactor
manufacturers.
