Q: What is the difference between a compactor and a baler?
A: A compactor is used to reduce the volume of trash that will be sent to a landfill. In addition, a compactor needs a bag to store the waste when removed. A baler is used to bale or bundle recyclable material such as cardboard, paper, plastics, metal, etc. for resale to a recycling company. A baler needs string or wire to hold the baled waste together after compaction.

Q: What should I look for when considering a company for the purchase of a compactor or baler?
A: Always consider the number of years a company has been in business and if they have patented technology. These factors can help you invest in equipment that is reliable and assures that the company you choose can make sound recommendations on the appropriate machinery for your use.

Q: Why should I compact my waste?
A: By compacting waste, our customers across industries achieve their operational goals by increasing profit, efficiency, and safety. Some of the very basic benefits of compacting waste include: reduced costs associated with the disposal of waste, maximization of space, and the promotion of a cleaner environment. Q: What type of waste can I put in my compactor?
A: Basically, any type of compactable waste can be used in an Enviro-Pak® compactor. Examples are cardboard, plastic, cans, boxes, food, drums, pallets, wooden crates, etc. Non-compactable waste is considered stacked newspaper, bundled computer paper, or phone books. Compare the contrasting end-results of crushing a phone book versus an aluminum can.

Q: What compaction ratio can I expect?
A: It is critical to understand that there are limits to "compaction ratios." Consumers should be cautious of promises to compact waste to extreme ratios, for example compacting mixed waste 40:1. There are various factors that influence the compaction ratio your compactor will get:

    Compaction Force:
Compaction force is the greatest determining factor in compaction ratio. A compactor needs the most force in order to have the smallest yeild. When choosing between two compactors, compaction force is the key in comparing compaction ratios.

    Type of Waste Compacted:
When compacting different types of waste, such as paper, cardboard, plastics, crates, and drums, the compaction ratio will depend on the amount of air being removed from the waste. For instance, compacting aluminum cans will have a greater compaction ratio than compacting phone books. Also, consider compacting a stack of books, the books will have zero compaction ratio because no air can be removed from a stack of books.

Q: How do I determine the right model for my needs?
A: There are several matters to consider when determining which model is suitable for your application. Here are a few:
    1. What type of waste is being disposed?
    2. What is your volume of waste per day?
    3. What is the available space for the compaction/baling equipment?
    4. How will the waste be stored and unloaded?
    5. What are your operational requirements?
    6. What is your working environment?
